This uniquely crafted Flag Box is Dedicated In Memory of

James E. Hayden

On September 11, 2001 James was a passenger of United Airlines 175, it being the second airplane to perish in the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in New York City.  All Americans and other loving people throughout the world share in the Hayden Family's sorrow and loss.

The Flag Box was crafted by an American Woodworker Hobbyist in his Massachusetts home workshop, in cooperation of similar efforts by The American Woodworkers Association.  The frame is made of Beautiful Soft Maple native to Massachusetts.  The corners are embellished with Cherry Splines and the back enclosure is Cherry Veneer.

The Maple is a mix of clear with streaks of heartwood.  The Craftsman chose this particular pattern of grain to signify the clarity of love by and for James Hayden, the Heartwood to signify the strength, toughness and determination of this Individual's Heart, and the Cherry to signify the touch of Special Beauty shared by this Individual.

The Cherry as presented is natural in its reddish pink color.  As time passes the atmosphere will bear upon it and it will endure to show its beauty in deep aged Cherry color.  What could be more representative of this individual's Character that lives on.

Soft Maple is a hardwood that will dent and scratch but not easily break.  In the forest it takes a great force to fall it, but its strength in character and beauty lives on.

This ensemble is provided in gratitude from the People of America; The American Woodworkers Association; Tom Rosati, ValRose Wood Works Hobbyist; Sam's Glass of Springfield, MA.
