If the plate is loose in the Table Saw's throat the kerf in the plate will widen during use.  A little hot glue is the fix!

The throat plate on the Grizzly G1023Z is 1/2" thick. This thick throat plate is 3/4" thick for extra strenght & safety when performaing a high blade cut.  The plate extends 1/4" below the plate holding wings.  The above link shows a series of how to make the thick plate and how to install the integrated splitter.
The splitter is from MesaVista, costs only $7, and works like a charm.
